October is Black History Month and has been celebrated across the UK for over 30 years, each year growing from strength to strength.
The aim of the month is to recognise significant contributions to society made by people with black heritage and how their history is integral to mainstream narratives.
The NASUWT’s celebrations for Black History Month 2020 were launched in a video by Michelle Codrington-Rogers, the first black National President of the NASUWT.
Throughout October, we will be celebrating the achievements of our BAME members – as teachers and activists, and looking at the progress of the NASUWT’s Equalities work.
We will also be encouraging more BAME teachers to be involved in the Union’s work.
